Non-Surgical Facelifts

As we age our skin suffers the "3Ds" of Deterioration, Descent and Deflation. Ongoing breakthroughs in the anti-aging industry have made turning back the hands of time more affordable and less painful than surgical face lifts.

Non-surgical procedures are becoming the norm as patients discover they can complement, enhance or sometimes even replace surgery. Procedures are performed at the Fredericton Wellness Clinic by Dr. Renier van Aardt. They often provide instant results, and require minimal recovery time.

The Wellness Clinic‘s knowledgeable staff can address the 3Ds with:

- Botox Injections
- Dermal Fillers

- Thermage Skin Tightening
- Scuptra

- Lipo Sculpting

Dr. Renier van Aardt can asses your skin condition and formulate an individualized treatment plan to rejuvenate you skin and keep it healthy and beautiful.

Botox® Cosmetic
Botox® Cosmetic has been used by medical doctors for various medical conditions for over twenty years. It is an increasingly popular option for reducing the appearance of wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes and mouth.

During a treatment, tiny amounts of purified protein are injected into specific facial muscles responsible for the creation of facial lines and wrinkles.

When the protein is injected into the muscles surrounding a particular area, those muscles can no longer contract. Basically, the protein blocks the signals that would normally tell your muscles to contract. So the wrinkles in that area often referred to as frown lines, temporarily go away.

The effect of your treatment is seen within three to five days. It takes two weeks before you see the full effect and it could require more than one treatment before optimal results can be seen.

Botox® Cosmetic therapy is temporary and therefore requires repeated treatments. On average benefits of treatment last about 2-4 months. Repeat treatments will result in longer lasting effects and improved smoothing of wrinkles.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers such as Restylane and Juviderm use hyaluronic acid to correct folds and wrinkles and other imperfections in the skin.

Dermal fillers are the long lasting solution for correcting wrinkles and remodeling facial contours. They are used to add volume to the eyebrows, cheeks, naso-labial lines, chin and lips, and help smooth facial wrinkles and deeper creases.

Dermal fillers have become one of the most popular treatments as patients love the soft and natural look, and the immediate results.

Thermage Skin Tightning
Thermage is a non-surgical method to tighten aging skin. Thermage uses radiofrequency to signal the deeper layers of the skin to produce new collagen, replacing old devitalized collagen fibers thereby increasing skin elasticity. The skin attains a more youthful appearance while becoming firmer and tighter resulting in “a lifting of the skin”.

The method produces no incisions and requires virtually no recovery time.

The entire face, neck, upper arms, abdomen, thighs and buttocks can be treated with re-treatment required every three to five years to maintain long term results.

The results are noticeable within two months after a single treatment with maximal effect evident six months after treatment. With the new advanced treatment protocol, treatments have become quicker, less painful and more effective than before, with a treatment success rate in excess of 80%.

Sculptra

Sculptra is a revolutionary new treatment in Cosmetic Dermatology. It represents a unique, non-invasive option that helps your facial skin naturally regain a more youthful and natural-looking appearance.

Derived from Fruit acids, Sculptra is a biocompatible and biodegradable injectable material that naturally stimulates the body to produce its own collagen.

The result is a fuller, smoother, more youthful and natural-looking face with less pronounced lines, creases, wrinkles and folds.

Results are long lasting. Typically three to four treatments will produce results that last two years and for some individuals even longer.

Results are gradual, natural and progressive and may be complemented by Botox, photo rejuvenation therapy and appropriate skin care.

Liposculpting

Liposculpting treatments consist of small injections of a natural soy bean substance and enzymes that is highly effective for dissolving the small, stubborn fat deposits that resist diet and exercise.

It is a quick office procedure and any side effects such as temporary bruising, itching and soreness are minimal and temporary. The body naturally eliminates the residue from a Liposculpting session over the three to four weeks following treatment. Most patients lose 1-3 inches around their waistline in one to three treatments.

There is no need for a general anesthetic. Recovery time is short allowing a rapid return to work and normal activities. The procedure is also very cost-effective.

The areas that respond best to Liposculpting treatment - in those who are not excessively overweight -- are certain stubborn fat deposits that resist further reduction after diet and exercise. These include double chins, the abdomen, love handles, backs of arms, thigh saddlebags, knees, and wings (the area on the back, just beside the armpits). Liposculpting has also been shown to improve and smooth out the skin.

Laser Tattoo Removal

Tattooing has become a very popular way for people to express their individuality. It is an ancient art form dating back as far as the Stone Age (12,000 BC).

Millions of people around the world have tattoos. There are basically two types: professional tattoos and amateur tattoos.

Professional tattoos generally contain more ink that is deeply placed in the skin. These tattoos may require a number of treatment sessions to be removed. Amateur tattoos usually contain carbon based India ink that is easier to remove. Laser is a novel way of removing unwanted tattoo ink.

A special Q-switched laser selectively targets the pigmented particles of the tattoo with a brief (billionths of a second) single pulse of light. This destroys the pigment without damage to the adjacent skin. The laser pulse fractures the ink into smaller particles, which are eliminated through the surface of the skin, or gradually removed by the body's scavenger white blood cells. The tattoo fades over a number of weeks after each treatment.

Re-treatment is suggested in six to eight week intervals. Due to the infinite variety of tattoos and the mixing of inks, it is impossible to predict exactly how many treatments are necessary to optimally fade a tattoo. Typically, amateur tattoos clear after two to six treatments, whereas professional tattoos can require eight to 12 or more treatments.
